The further deepening of the organization’s digitization and organizational transformation, with the centralization of services and the adoption of new, flexible service models, formed the core of the actions and projects of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) in 2024.According to an announcement from the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE), 2024 marked a milestone year for the modernization of the tax and customs administration in Greece. As part of these efforts, significant progress was made in combating tax evasion and smuggling, while high results were achieved in tax revenue, citizen and business services, and strengthening AADE's international outreach.
Specifically, AADE presented 24 key achievements for 2024, which include:
Increase in tax revenues and tax refunds: AADE surpassed the revenue target by €5.4 billion, while setting a new record in tax refunds with nearly €7.2 billion.
Digitization of services: The use of digital tools was expanded, such as the myAADEapp application, which has been downloaded by 550,000 citizens, and the automation of processes such as VAT refunds and tax declaration submissions.
Payment facilitation: New capabilities were implemented for payments via foreign credit institutions and with the use of cards, accelerating the procedures.
Digitization of customs procedures: Over 98,000 exports were completed through digital processes, and new applications were introduced to combat smuggling.
POS integration and controls: 430,000 POS devices were connected to cash register systems for real-time recording and transmission of tax data.
Reforms and Recovery Fund projects: Significant progress was made in implementing 25 projects under the Recovery and Resilience Fund, with a focus on creating the Integrated Tax Information System.
International outreach: AADE hosted important international tax and customs meetings in Athens, strengthening its position in the global tax scene.
AADE is moving swiftly towards digitization and modernization, aiming to better serve citizens and improve the effectiveness of tax and customs procedures.
