The portfolio of the development projects that are to be launched were presented in detail by the prime minister during his visit to Tripoli where he joined a meeting with the competent ministers, the local government and representatives of agencies.
The Plan refers to interventions in four main axes: the development of networks and infrastructures, the influx of investments, the improvement of the quality of life of citizens and finally the upgrading of structures and services.
The portfolio of infrastructure projects includes the construction of new road and rail links, such as the Southwest Peloponnese axis in the Kalamata - Rizomylos - Pylos - Methoni section, a series of improvement interventions in terms of road safety and the railway line in the Kiato - Diakofto section, the which is part of the wider project for the interconnection of Kiatos with Rhododafni.
Projects under construction
Many projects are currently underway in Messinia, apart from the ongoing Soulinari - Korifassio road project. Tenders have already been submitted for the Gialova Bypass project, a project with a budget of €40 million and progressing with the aim of completing the studies within 2023 and submit the Environmental Impact Study of the new extension of Olympia Road, Pyrgos – Kalo Nero – Tsakona.
In Arcadia, the geotechnical investigations for the Lagadion Bypass are being completed, and the financial tool is being sought, while the project to upgrade and repair the Courthouse in Tripoli is progressing, for which there is already a temporary contractor. Also, the damage restoration work is being carried out at the Kiverio Fishing Reserve, the Xombriou Stream, the Agios Andreas Fishing Reserve and the Paralio Astros port in Argolis
By the end of 2022, the contract will be signed with the contracting scheme for the PPP road project, Kalamata - Rizomylos - Pylos - Methoni
In the near future, road safety projects of the order of €65 million will be announced by the Region, as well as the anti-flood concessions amounting to approximately €60 million.
