Following the documentation of the necessary maintenance work on the bridge and the precise determination of the required interventions, a tender and auction for the project will be initiated by the Region.
It is important to note that, while the responsibility for maintaining the bridge is shared by the two neighboring municipalities, their limited resources and capabilities have hindered their ability to address the issue. As a result, they have requested assistance from the Region of Attica.
The Regional Authority has developed a comprehensive plan for the protection of the Basin against climate change and related extreme natural events. This plan includes 158 flood prevention projects, with a total budget of €1.2 billion.
Of these, 54 projects, with a total budget of €447.4 million, are set to begin implementation in the first half of 2025, with the goal of completion by the end of the current term of the Regional Authority.
