The General Assembly of the Amateur members on the 30th of March had approved with a percentage of 68.5% (2,051 out of 2,985 valid votes) the project of "Double Regeneration" (and the contracts with the Municipality of Athens, Panathinaikos FC and AEP Eleonas), opening the road for the construction of the new football arena with a capacity of approximately 38,500 seats and the new sports center of A.O. 7,200 sq.m. in the Botanical Garden.
In order to have this decision of the General Assembly of the Amateur Panathinaikos been ratified, precisely because it refers to the issue of the concession of the stadium on Alexandras Avenue and the transfer of its rights to the new stadium complex at Botanicos- there had to have a formal approval from a court and in this case from the Administrative Court of Appeal.
The whole procedure has been scheduled on May, 17 however 59 members of the Amateur had informed two weeks ago that they would make a move to challenge the decision of the General Assembly at the Administrative Court of Appeal. At the same time, the same group of members filed a lawsuit against the management of Amateur Panathinaikos, claiming that:
a) two thirds of all the members of the Amateur did not vote in favor of the decision, but 2/3 of those who were present during the General Assembly and
b) the letter vote should not have been valid
The management of Amateur Panathinaikos, together with the FC, the Municipality of Athens, but also the government, have been studying all the legal data of the case since yesterday and are been preparing against the "59 members", in order to find a formula to solve the case and be consistent to the timetables of the project of the "Double Regeneration".
