The aim is to add up to 145,000 new charging points a year to the system until the end of the decade, building on the 250,000 already installed in homes and workplaces.

It is also been planned that the new build properties will have to provide charging ports and buildings which have "major renovations" will also be forced to make the upgrade as well.

According to the news.sky.com, Boris Johnson is expected to speak to the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) annual conference, and say that: "We will require new homes and buildings to have EV charging points - with another 145,000 charging points to be installed thanks to these regulations."
