The building that was transformed by the owner Premia Properties REIC into a modern office complex with "green" features, after an investment of €60 million. will house 1,100 employees of the Central Services of AADE.
The new facilities, at 180 Piraeus Street, are built according to international standards of building specifications, similar to corresponding infrastructures abroad. They have a bioclimatic structure, ergonomic workplaces, modern technological equipment, rooms specially designed to serve citizens and visitors, a sports area, a playground and a canteen.
The relocation of the Central Services is part of the broad organizational reform of the Agency, with the aim not only of aesthetic and functional upgrading, but also of optimizing internal communication between the Services. At the same time, it contributes to the faster and more efficient coordination of their work, reducing operational and administrative costs, as well as the response times and processing of administrative procedures.
The Prime Minister welcomed the event, stating: "If we had not made this very great progress in the way AADE operates, we would not have been able to consistently serve our central choice - since the Greek people trusted us for the first time - to proceed with gradual but fiscally sustainable tax reductions. Because increased revenues in an economy can come either from growth itself, from an increase in GDP - and our country is currently a leader in Europe in this area - or from the reduction of tax evasion, a practice that many times we have decorated and with which we are at constant war.
And as much as tax evasion is reduced, as much as the loophole in VAT is reduced, as much as you manage and solve large tax or customs frauds that require a specialization, the more revenue you will add to the coffers of the state, so that we can continue with the policy of reducing taxes" .
The Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kostis Hatzidakis, congratulated AADE and said: "Even the most skeptical recognize that AADE has changed for the better in recent years. More than 90% of its services are now provided digitally and the contact and service system for taxpayers is changing, as at the same time its organizational transformation is being completed throughout Greece.
AADE is already building a new citizen service model based on both digital tools and the creation of central service structures in Athens and Thessaloniki, for a more flexible, citizen-friendly and more transparent tax mechanism. In these two areas, where more than 50% of the country's population is concentrated, a certification and collection center (KEBEIS), a service center (KEFODE) and a property tax center (KEFOK) were created, which are assisted by the services tax service.
I know that there are still childhood diseases in the operation of KEFODE. After all, they are mentioned in the Mass Media. The same thing happened a few months ago with the then introduction of KEVEIS. However, the matter was dealt with in a short period of time with the necessary adjustments and familiarization with the new function. The same will happen with KEFODE. Our goal is for AADE to reach the full digitization of its service, having in the meantime as a priority the liquidation of all the pending cases that have accumulated. KEBEIS and KEFODE, however, are examples of modernization compared to what was happening before."
The commander of AADE, Giorgos Pitsilis, emphasized: "The relocation of our Central Services to the new facilities is an important milestone for AADE and marks the beginning of a new era, where the modernization of our services and serving the citizen are at the center. We are particularly happy for the completion of this ambitious plan, with which we definitively turn the page to the future of the Organization".
