Rise in construction costs for new housing reaches 3.1%

The General Price Index for Construction Materials of New Residential Buildings recorded an annual increase of 3.1% in March 2026 compared with the corresponding index in March 2025, according to the latest data. This follows a higher annual increase of 3.7% recorded in the previous comparison period (2025 versus 2024), indicating a moderation in the pace of price growth.

According to data released by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (Hellenic Statistical Authority), the General Index in March 2026 recorded an increase of 0.8% compared with February 2026, against a rise of 0.2% observed in the corresponding month-on-month comparison in 2025.

In addition, the average index for the twelve-month period April 2025 – March 2026 increased by 2.6% compared with the corresponding period April 2024 – March 2025. This compares with a significantly higher increase of 5.1% recorded in the previous twelve-month comparison, indicating a clear deceleration in the rate of annual growth.
