The European holiday rental company Belvilla, owned by Oravel Stays (formerly Oyo), is expanding into the U.S. market through the acquisition of 10 properties via the bankruptcy proceedings of Sonder Holdings.

Of the properties acquired by Prism—an investment vehicle affiliated with the Group—three have already commenced operations: The Dutch and Court Square in Long Island City, New York, and The Louie Hotel in New Orleans. All three now operate under the upscale urban brand Belvilla District 6.

Although Belvilla’s official website does not yet offer bookings for the U.S. market, the transition has already been confirmed through distribution channels. On the Oyo booking platform, the hotels are listed as active under their original names, accompanied by the designation “Belvilla District 6 — Formerly Sonder.” For instance, The Dutch in Long Island City appears as “Dutch Hotel Long Island City New York — Belvilla District 6 Formerly Sonder.”

The move marks a significant milestone for Belvilla, which until now has maintained a strong presence primarily in Europe, and forms part of the Group’s broader strategy to strengthen its footprint in the urban accommodation and short-term rental segment across the United States.
