The new projects, which are being developed in partnership with Grupo Almarena, mark the Spanish hospitality group’s entry into Mendoza Province, one of Argentina’s most prominent tourism and wine-producing regions.
The first development, Meliá Mendoza, will be located in downtown Mendoza, within close proximity to Plaza Independencia. Operating under the Meliá Hotels & Resorts brand, the property will feature 140 guestrooms, a restaurant, a bar, and meeting and event facilities catering to both corporate and leisure travellers.
At the same time, the company is advancing the development of Meliá Collection Valle de Uco, an upscale hospitality project situated in the Valle de Uco wine region, approximately 100 kilometres from Mendoza city. The resort will comprise 110 guestrooms, including ten branded residences, and will offer wellness facilities, family-oriented amenities, and multiple food and beverage concepts.
With the signing of these two new agreements, the partnership between Meliá Hotels International and Grupo Almarena now encompasses five hotel developments. In addition to the new Mendoza projects, the portfolio includes two operating properties in Buenos Aires and a further project currently under development in Costa del Este.
Argentina remains one of the Spanish group’s key growth markets in Latin America. Meliá currently operates six hotels across the country, four of which have opened during the past two years. In parallel, the company has signed an additional five projects that are currently at various stages of development.
In Buenos Aires, Meliá operates the Meliá Recoleta Plaza and Casa Lucía Meliá Collection, as well as the Almarena Madero Urbano and Almarena Puerto Retiro properties under the Affiliated by Meliá brand. The group’s Argentine portfolio is further complemented by Gran Meliá Iguazú and Alejandro I Affiliated by Meliá in Salta.
Meliá’s growth strategy in Argentina also includes new investments in Ushuaia and Bariloche, as well as the introduction of the INNSiDE by Meliá brand to Costa del Este, underscoring the group’s continued expansion within the country’s hospitality sector.
